As mentioned in the video there is no need to treat your video camera any different to the people you chat to every day face to face. Key tips to remember when getting over video shyness (trust me if Pam can do it anyone can do it).
- Get use to looking at yourself - it is what everybody already sees, knows and loves about you
- Practise in front of a mirror every time you get an opportunity it helps to make you confident for your next video
- Your voice sounds funny...did you know that is what everyone has been hearing all your life and they still love you... it is okay
- Talk as if you are talking to one person and if it helps to have a friend on the other side of the camera to get started that is okay just talk to them
- If it is easier to get started, get someone you know to interview you and then work your way towards being on video by yourself
- Most importantly, be yourself and have fun, people want to get to know you not listen to a news reader. Personality is very important to successful videoing.
Pam's Worst Nightmare
As you are well aware Pam has been beside herself with excitement interviewing one of her mentors and leading internet marketers Yanik Silver. She had set up the equipment, tested, retested, interviewed international friends to make sure everything was working....then an interviewers worst nightmare happened....technical GLITCH.
That is right, on the day the video tool I was using would not work. I was frantic and Yanik was so patient. We came up with another alternative and had a fabulous interview and then when I went to save it the recorder recorded me and barely, barely recorded him. DISASTER or so I thought.
Not one to be beaten by a computer I sought advice from my neighbour who happens to be a videographer and he said...I can fix it.
So the moral of the story is...even the best preparation can have hiccups, but you always need to look for the light at the end of the tunnel because a disaster may not be as bad as it seems. So I am working to put the interview together next week. Yanik has some great insights as to where the internet is heading in 2010 and what you need to be focusing on in your business.
